Vancouver: A Sign of Spring

A sure sign of spring showed up last week: a lawn suddenly scattered with crocuses.

Vancouver's rains have started and we are into another winter; the low, grey skies that darken early; the cold, wet pants cuffs; the constant "do we need an umbrella? Will we?"

Here are some shots of summer flowers, from only a few short months ago, to remind us of how different it can be.

BC Camping #1: Flora

This nine-day, 2150 km loop took us through both new and familiar areas.
Lilooet turned out to be a much drier place than we had expected, full of beautiful little Provincial Parks with very easy camping.

We should really know more about the various mushrooms and fungi we meet. I bet some of them would be delicious.

Patches of bright orangey-red lichen, very striking on the dark rocks beside Green Lake.

Anyone who has popped a wild strawberry in their mouth knows the concentrated punch of flavour they pack. These were no exception.

Promoting Our Show

Tim Gerwing brought his equipment and played a fantastic set of music during our closing event. He graced us with a rocking version of "Zeppelin".

The flowers were Aya's idea.

Sidewalk chalk was the best advertising dollar we spent.
It cost a dollar.
Many visitors said they had seen the writing and just decided to come in.

They also liked the balloons.
